Welcome!
Welcome to the 2017–2018 school year at George Washington Elementary! My name is Mrs. Wilocki and I will be your student’s teacher this year. I am from the East Side, and I attended Annunciata on to Mother McAuley and then finally to Purdue where I received a degree in Special Education and St. Xavier University where I received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education. I am currently receiving my ESL endorsement from St. Francis in Joliet.
This will be my 5th year at George Washington Elementary, and I’m so excited about the year ahead! I know that your student will accomplish amazing things this year, and my job is to ensure that s/he has every tool s/he needs to be successful. I am a firm believer that when teachers, students, families, and communities work together, our children can do anything!
OUR BIG GOAL
My goal is for your student to become a true college-bound scholar. I want all of my students to grow academically and develop the skills they need to be successful – not just on the 6th grade state tests, but on the NWEA and at the high school and college levels, as well. By the end of the year, our students will be independent thinkers, globally aware and informed citizens, powerful writers, and strong leaders who value education and literacy and the opportunities that these provide.
FAMILY/TEACHER COMMUNICATION
Education doesn't’t start and end in the classroom, but rather at home. I hope that, this year, we can work together as allies to ensure that your student’s needs are met and that s/he feels confident, welcome, and successful in my classroom. My number one priority is your student’s academic achievement, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have questions or concerns. It is my personal goal to keep parents and families up to date on their students’ progress.
You and I are a team fighting for the best possible education for your child; I look forward to entering this partnership with you.

EXPECTATIONS & ACCOUNTABILITY
As college-bound scholars, I expect my students to come to class every day ready to learn and do their best. I hold my students to high standards. In order to create a positive and productive learning environment, my classroom expectations are included in the course handbook, which all students reviewed and signed.
VOLUNTEERS
I love having family help as volunteers! If you are interested in helping set up the classroom, prepare for activities with take-home materials, tutor students, or anything else, please let me know, and we’we will coordinate schedules.
